What is the EC-Council Essentials Series? The Essentials Series is a set of eight beginner-level EC-Council certifications covering foundational cybersecurity domains. Invictus offers three of them — SOC, Ethical Hacking, and Cloud Security — each combining self-paced video, hands-on labs, a capstone project, and a proctored exam.
Do I need IT or cybersecurity experience to enroll? No. All three Essentials courses are designed for complete beginners, including high school and university students, career switchers, and working professionals with no technical background.
Which Essentials course should I start with? Match the course to the role you're aiming for: SOC Essentials for monitoring and incident response, Ethical Hacking Essentials for offensive security, or Cloud Security Essentials for securing cloud infrastructure. Many learners take more than one.
What happens after I complete an Essentials certification? Each course is a stepping stone to an advanced credential: SOC Essentials leads to Certified SOC Analyst (C|SA), Ethical Hacking Essentials leads to Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH), and Cloud Security Essentials leads to Certified Cloud Security Engineer (C|CSE).
