What Is a Salesforce Platform Administrator?

If you've ever wondered who keeps a company's Salesforce running smoothly, the answer is usually a Salesforce Platform Administrator. It's one of the most approachable ways to enter the tech industry, and it's a role that's evolving quickly as AI becomes part of everyday work.

Here's a friendly walkthrough of what the role involves, how to earn the credential, and how Invictus can help you get started.

What is a Salesforce Platform Admin?

Salesforce is a platform businesses use to manage their customers, sales, and service in one place. A Salesforce Platform Admin is the person who configures it, customizes it, and keeps it working for the people who use it every day.

Think of them as the bridge between what a business needs and what Salesforce can do. And as AI joins the platform, Admins are increasingly the ones helping organizations set it up and run it. That's what our course calls running the Agentic Enterprise.

What does a Salesforce Platform Admin do?

Day to day, an Admin's work centers on a few core areas:

  • Customizing the platform. Tailoring Lightning Experience, objects, and custom fields to match how the business really works.

  • Managing data. Designing sensible data models and keeping data accurate and high-quality.

  • Protecting information. Making sure the right people have access to the right data, and keeping it secure.

  • Supporting sales and service teams. Setting up sales features and administering service tools so teams can do their jobs well.

  • Working with AI. Configuring and supporting Agentforce, from grounding an agent with data to planning AI and data projects.

Imagine a service team that wants faster answers for customers. An Admin sets up the right fields, keeps the data clean, and configures the tools, so the team spends less time searching and more time helping.

How do you become a Certified Salesforce Platform Administrator?

The path has three steps:

  1. Learn the fundamentals. Understand what the role does and get comfortable with the platform.

  2. Build hands-on practice. Customize objects and fields, work with data, and explore security and AI features.

  3. Take the certification exam. The Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator credential is obtained through Salesforce. According to Salesforce, the exam has 60 scored multiple-choice and multiple-select questions and a 105-minute time limit, and it can be taken online or at a testing center.

Salesforce also says you don't need a technical background to start learning, and recommends hands-on experience before sitting the exam. Because exam fees, passing scores, and objectives can change, check Salesforce's official exam guide or contact one of the advisors at Invictus Academy before you book.

That's where guided training helps. Our Salesforce Certified Platform Administration course (code SF-CPA) is a 15+ hour program that builds your understanding of the role and the platform. It is training, not the exam itself. The credential is earned separately through Salesforce.

What are your career prospects with this credential?

Salesforce is used across many industries, so Admin skills travel well, and the Philippines is becoming a bigger part of the picture:

  • In November 2025, Salesforce announced a new Manila office in Makati, its first physical presence in the country.

  • Salesforce pledged to equip 12,000 Filipino workers with CRM and AI skills over the next five years.

  • Local employers are hiring, and some job postings ask for Salesforce certifications.

On pay, Curran Daly's 2026 Philippines Salary Guide puts the average Salesforce Administrator salary at around ₱55,000 per month, and around ₱125,000 per month for senior Admins. Actual pay depends on the company, industry, and experience, but it shows there's room to grow.

Why does this role matter in the age of AI?

AI tools like Agentforce can help teams answer customer questions, support employees, and work faster. But AI is only as good as the data and setup behind it. Someone has to connect it to the right information, plan how it fits into the business, and keep it secure and responsible.

That someone is often the Salesforce Admin, which is why the role is becoming more valuable, not less. If you enjoy solving problems with technology, it's a chance to grow into an AI-ready professional.
